Stained Glass Artist

My Story

Art has always been my passion, and I was searching for a new hobby to express my creativity. After exploring various artistic avenues like pottery, I found my true calling in stained glass art.

Once I attended several courses, I was captivated by the beauty and intricacy of this craft and have been dedicated to it ever since.

I specialise in both Tiffany copper-foil and lead-came methods, and take great joy in restoring old leaded windows to their former glory or repurposing them into something entirely new.

As a fully qualified teacher with a wealth of experience across various sectors, I find immense satisfaction in teaching these techniques to others. Sharing this wonderful art through the courses I run is a true delight.

Panes For New Door

From a graphic sent via email (top right) I produced these beautiful panes to fit a new door. I have also made a picture window for above the door (in the same style/design).

Broken Window Pane

This window had a broken pane, which needed repairing.  I also adjusted the width of this window, so that it could fit inside a picture frame with a backlight.

Complete Re-Leading

A complete re-leading due to broken solder joints and weakened mid-section. Completely taken apart and given internal strengtheners to prevent bowing through wear and tear.

Complete Rebuild

Too many parts of the glass in this lamp were damaged, so a complete rebuild with some sympathetically replaced glass was needed.

Geometry Inspiration

I took inspiration from geometry to produce this design for an internal door in my house.  The panes were then set against the existing plain glass, in the door.

Lamp Re-Furb

I bought this lamp which had 5 pieces of glass damaged and was badly out of shape (see the before and after pics from above).  I spent several hours carefully removing the old glass and cleaning the channel, before sourcing matching glass and cutting, fitting and soldering into place.  A final coat of black patina finished it off nicely!

What they are saying!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "An Amazing Experience!" I recently attended the 4-hour stained glass workshop at RP Stained Glass, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment I walked in, Richard made me feel welcome and comfortable. The hands-on session was perfectly structured, allowing us to learn the intricate techniques of copper-foiled stained glass art while having fun. The small group size meant we received personalized attention throughout the class. The tools and materials provided were top-notch, and I was thrilled to take home a beautiful sun-catcher that I made myself. The tea, coffee, and biscuits were a lovely touch, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to explore their creative side or learn a new hobby. It was worth every penny!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Fantastic and Fun!" I took part in the 1-hour Scrappy Bird stained glass workshop, and it was fantastic! Despite the short duration, the session was packed with information and hands-on practice. Richard's guidance was excellent as we chose our bird shapes and learned to copper foil and solder. The process was so much fun, and I was amazed at how quickly we could create something so beautiful. What made this workshop even more special was the use of leftover glass scraps, which added an eco-friendly twist. For just £25, it was an affordable and enjoyable way to try out a new craft. I left with my very own Scrappy Bird and a sense of accomplishment. I can't wait to come back for more sessions in the future!
